Mardi Gras!

Fat Tuesday aka Mardi Gras!

A holiday that celebrates "pigging out" before the Lenten season and partying all night until you can't anymore. In America, the biggest Mardi Gras party is down in New Orleans or 'N'awlens'. I did not celebrate in New Orleans, but at the closest thing we have in Milwaukee - Crawdaddy's restaurant. (We went there for my dads birthday last month posted here) My parents do an annual outing to Crawdaddy's for their car club and this was my second year in attendance. We had a larger group - 12 of us - and it was really fun night! Ofcourse being one of the their busiest nights of the year, they did the best they could for a large group.

Like I said in my earlier post, they have phenomenal food!

I made the people sitting around me wait to eat so I could get some yummy pictures for you:

Pecan Crusted Veal Tenders

This was a special item for Mardi Gras - not sure if it will be on the menu any time soon!

Twin steaks w/ their signature Hollandaise sauce

Chicken Pontalba
2 Crispy chicken breasts covered in hollandaise sauce over a bed of
sauteed potatoes, mushrooms & onions. YUM-O!

I wanted to try something new and this was definitely delicious! Our entire table had gotten something different and everyone was very happy with their choices. I took leftovers (wayyy to much food for 1 sitting!) and can't wait to eat them tomorrow for lunch!

I hope everyone had a great Fat Tuesday! Here's to Lent & giving up something for next 6 weeks.. oh boy!

Gosh I wish we had a restaurant that was like that here in southwest Ohio! That looks delicious and the atmosphere had to be fun on Fat Tuesday!

We should totally keep each other motivated and do this weight loss thing together…at least for a few weeks anyways! My sole motivation at this point is just to look good in vacation photos I take in two weeks. I am not going anywhere big, but nothing is worse than looking back years later at photos and being like “ewww I look gross!”. LOL!

So I definitely haven’t given anything up for Lent yet (I’m a terrible Catholic and forgot today is Ash Wednesday until a co-worker just mentioned it!). I’m thinking Mexican food might make the cut. But that could potentially be the most difficult thing I ever do!

Have a great day girl!
